This Privacy Policy explains how My Future Choice Group Ltd (“MyFutureChoice”, “we”, “us” or “our”) collects, uses, stores, and protects the personal data of students who access our careers education programmes, whether purchased directly by the student or provided through a school, college, university, private guidance counsellor, or other educational organisation.

We are committed to protecting your privacy and complying with the UK General Data Protection Regulation (UK GDPR), the EU General Data Protection Regulation (EU GDPR), and applicable privacy laws in other countries where our services are used.

3. Our Role in Processing Your Data

The way MyFutureChoice uses your personal data depends on how you access our programmes:

  • Direct Purchase by You: If you purchase access to our programmes directly from MyFutureChoice, we act as the Data Controller. This means we determine how and why your personal data is processed.
  • Access via a School, College, University, Private Guidance Counsellor, or Other Educational Organisation: If your access is arranged and paid for by an educational institution or guidance provider (including state-funded schools, private schools, and Education and Training Boards in Ireland), we act as the Data Processor on their behalf. In these cases, the institution or provider is the Data Controller and is responsible for deciding how and why your personal data is processed, and we process it according to their instructions.

4. Purpose of Processing

We collect and process personal data to deliver personalised career guidance through our psychometrically validated tools and related resources. This information is essential to provide accurate assessment results, tailored recommendations, and relevant careers education resources to support your decision-making. We only collect the data necessary to achieve this purpose.


5. Data We Collect

We may collect the following information when you use our services:

  • Required: Your name and email address.
  • Optional (depending on your profile and settings): Telephone number, alternative email, date of birth, school name, year group, form, assigned careers adviser, programme usage details, language preference, country, and time zone.
  • Automatically Collected: Technical and usage data such as login times, activity within the platform, and browser/device information.

We do not collect sensitive personal data (such as health, ethnicity, religion, or sexuality) for the purposes of delivering our careers guidance programmes.


6. How We Collect Data

We collect your data:

  • Directly from you when you register or use our platforms.
  • From your school, college, university, or guidance provider when they set up your account.
  • Through automated means such as cookies and activity logs.

7. Lawful Bases for Processing

Our lawful bases under UK GDPR/EU GDPR depend on how your access is provided:

  • Direct purchase: Contractual necessity (to provide the service) and legitimate interest (to improve our tools and services).
  • Via an educational institution or provider: Legitimate interest or contractual necessity, as determined by your Data Controller.
  • We may also rely on consent for specific optional activities, such as marketing communications (if offered).

8. Data Sharing

We may share your data with:

  • Your school, college, university, or guidance provider (if applicable).
  • Authorised MyFutureChoice staff and advisers.
  • Trusted third-party service providers (e.g., hosting, analytics, IT support) who are bound by contractual obligations to keep your data secure.
  • Public authorities or regulators, if legally required.

We do not sell or share your personal data for marketing purposes.


9. Global Applicability & Data Location

MyFutureChoice is based in the United Kingdom and complies with both the UK GDPR and the EU GDPR.

  • UK Students: Personal data is stored securely within the United Kingdom.
  • EU and Irish Students: Personal data is stored securely within the European Union and is not transferred outside the EU.

Where our services are delivered outside the UK or the EU, we comply with applicable local data protection and privacy laws. If in the future a transfer of personal data outside the UK or EU becomes necessary, it will only occur with appropriate safeguards in place, such as the UK International Data Transfer Agreement (IDTA) or EU Standard Contractual Clauses (SCCs), and only where legally permitted.


10. Retention of Data

We retain personal data for up to 10 years from the end of your access period, unless a shorter period is required by law or a deletion request is made. After this period, we may retain anonymised data for research and reporting purposes.

Depending on your location and applicable law, you have the right to:
